Iskandar Puteri: With just a point needed to all but confirm their place in the last-16, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) will be going all out for a win when they take on Pohang Steelers in their final group match of the East Zone Elite Asian Champions League (ACLE) tomorrow.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, JDT head coach Hector Bidoglio expects a stern test from Pohang Steelers as the South Korean club are also in the running for a top-eight finish to advance to the last 16. "My opinion is that tomorrow will be another difficult game, but we have a good chance to qualify (for the round of 16). it is important to win and earn the best position in the standings," Bidoglio stated at a press conference.
JDT are currently fifth in the East Zone group stage with 11 points, while Pohang Steelers sit in eighth place with nine points. The return of key players Juan Muniz and Murilo Henrique from suspensions bolsters JDT's chances, alongside their overall strong form.
Bidoglio added that new addition Anselmo Moraes, despite joining only two days ago, is expected to be a useful asset. Meanwhile, Pohang Steelers' head coach Park Tae-Ha is determined to secure a victory, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the next match following a productive pre-season.
Tae-Ha highlighted the significance of monitoring JDT's key players, Bergson da Silva and Natxo Insa, who are known for making impactful contributions on the field. Despite facing over 30,000 JDT supporters at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Tae-Ha remains confident in his team's ability to perform strongly and achieve their goal of being among the top eight teams.
