According to BERNAMA News Agency, the annual Active Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) Grant will see an increase from RM6,000 to RM10,000 starting in 2027, marking its first adjustment in 13 years. This 66.7 percent increase aligns with the MADANI Government's focus on enhancing community unity, security, and grassroots development.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang highlighted that the grant supports KRTs in conducting activities benefiting residents, with over 100,000 such activities organized nationwide last year. This increase is seen as a significant step in acknowledging the contributions of KRT members in promoting unity and community development.

The grant has undergone three major rate changes, from RM4,800 in 2008 to RM6,000 in 2013, and now set to RM10,000 from 2027. Aaron emphasized that this adjustment reflects the government's commitment to strengthening KRT capabilities to meet the evolving needs and challenges of society.

KRTs play a crucial role in local security, economic development, and social resilience, supporting community economic projects that generate income and benefit local residents through welfare activities. The government's allocation to KRTs is considered a social investment delivering tangible benefits to the community.

In addition to the grant increase, Budget 2027 has provisions for equipment and gear to enhance the Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS). The SRS is a key component of community security, driven by volunteerism and cooperation between residents and security agencies. SRS volunteers help maintain public order and address local security risks, complementing official efforts. The National Unity Ministry is committed to ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of the increased grants and SRS support for the benefit of residents.
