Kuala lumpur: Four individuals, including activist Rafidah Ibrahim, were released on police bail yesterday evening after being detained for allegedly attempting to cause a commotion at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project. Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the release and stated that the individuals were detained under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which pertains to public order and safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, investigations into the four are ongoing, and updates will be provided by the authorities as they become available. The detentions and subsequent release were part of the police's efforts to maintain public order and safety during events in the country. Datuk Fadil Marsus emphasized the importance of intelligence and information in preempting any potential disruptions to public order.

The arrests took place yesterday morning, involving four individuals, including two women aged between 39 and 47. They were accused of attempting to incite a commotion at the ceremony, prompting swift police action under the relevant legal provisions.

In a separate matter, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil addressed the ongoing investigation into the assault case involving sports journalist Haresh Deol. The police are actively tracking down another individual linked to the incident. Although a suspect has been charged under Section 34 of the Penal Code for acting jointly, the investigation remains active, and Fadil refrained from commenting on whether additional suspects have been identified.

The assault on Haresh Deol, co-founder of the TwentyTwo13 news portal, occurred on November 25. Haresh reported via a post on X that he had been attacked by two men while walking to his car, with another individual recording the incident on a mobile phone.
