Kuala lumpur: Police re-arrested activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak after his two-day remand ended today, following his detention in Port Dickson.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Langkawi police chief ACP Khairul Azhar Nuruddin stated that the 33-year-old was re-arrested by the Langkawi district police headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division in connection with a case being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code. The suspect is expected to be charged at the Langkawi Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

The arrest followed a previous detention on July 18 at the Port Dickson IPD, where Tamim Dahri was held to assist in investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. He was remanded for two days from July 19 to 20. The re-arrest is linked to a police report lodged in Kuah, leading to further investigations under the mentioned section.

Tamim Dahri had previously come into the spotlight after being alleged to have fled overseas in connection with a Facebook criminal intimidation case. He reportedly surrendered at the Port Dickson IPD last Saturday. The investigations began after police received a report from an Indian man on March 10, claiming that he had been threatened by the activist on Facebook.

Additionally, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad noted that investigations revealed Tamim Dahri spent over four months in Thailand before re-entering Malaysia through an illegal route at the Kelantan border. He subsequently surrendered at the Port Dickson IPD to assist with the ongoing investigation.
