Acts of Embezzlement and Breach of Trust in Zakat Funds Demand Thorough Investigation Without Exception

Kuala lumpur: Any act of embezzlement, breach of trust, or misuse of zakat funds is subject to legal action in force and must be investigated and prosecuted accordingly without exception. Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah (YADIM) president Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom emphasized that any form of betrayal of trust is an act that cannot be compromised.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Hasan stated that the MADANI government is expected to not protect any party involved in such misconduct. He urged all parties to respect the legal process and allow the authorities to conduct a transparent, independent, and professional investigation. He cautioned against condemning the entire zakat institution based on an isolated incident involving a specific individual, stressing the importance of a fair and balanced approach to maintain public confidence in institutions that have long served the community.

Recent media reports disclosed that two men, including a deputy chairman of a non-governmental organization, were remanded to aid in the investigation of an embezzlement case involving approximately RM230 million, allegedly used for personal gain, including purchasing luxury assets.

Dr. Hasan highlighted the issue as a significant reminder for YADIM to continue strengthening integrity as the core of contemporary dakwah. He urged the community to continue fulfilling their zakat obligations with confidence, ensuring that such incidents do not undermine the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility in aiding those in need.

In alignment with the principles of MADANI Malaysia, Dr. Hasan called for collective efforts to uphold the institution as a means for social justice and common prosperity.
