Adly Zahari Highlights Need for Political Stability in Melaka Amid Frequent Leadership Changes

Melaka:Melaka's history of frequently changing chief ministers should serve as a cautionary tale for political parties to prioritize state administration stability following the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election, stated former Chief Minister Adly Zahari.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly, who also serves as the Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, emphasized that political and administrative stability should take precedence over the question of leadership after the election. He underscored the importance of a stable administration in sustaining policies and development agendas, suggesting that political stability is crucial for all parties involved.

Adly proposed the adoption of a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) at the state level, similar to the federal model, to ensure sufficient government support and the ability to pass budgets despite a slim majority. He also advocated for an inclusive approach, which he had implemented during his tenure as Chief Minister, by providing allocations to opposition state assemblymen to help them serve their constituencies effectively.

He highlighted his efforts in the Bukit Katil constituency, where 231 out of 255 resident applications and complaints had been resolved over the past two years, dealing mainly with infrastructure issues and safety measures around schools. Adly detailed the process of recording and monitoring applications through various channels and the importance of direct involvement in unresolved cases.

In the upcoming election, Adly faces competition from Perikatan Nasional candidate Muhammad Ridzuan Mohd Sarif, Parti Bersama Malaysia candidate Dr. Aliza Che Amran, and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin. The Election Commission has designated November 14 as polling day, with early voting scheduled for November 10.
