Admin Assistant Pleads Not Guilty to Insulting Modesty of Female Intern

Kuala lumpur: A 37-year-old administrative assistant at a government department has entered a plea of not guilty in the Magistrates' Court today. The charge brought against him involves insulting the modesty of a female intern, an incident that allegedly occurred three months ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Aznee Osman is accused of committing the offence against the 23-year-old victim at a government office on April 4 at 1:58 PM. The charge is framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment, a fine, or both, if found guilty.

Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan has granted Mohamad Aznee a bail of RM2,500 with one surety and emphasized the condition that he must refrain from harassing the victim. The magistrate has set the date of September 3 for the next mention of the case.

In court, Mohamad Aznee, who did not have legal representation, requested a reduced bail amount, citing financial constraints. "I am a civil servant earning RM2,000 a month. I have three school-going children, and one of them is a person with disabilities, while my wife is unemployed," he explained.

The prosecution in this case is being handled by prosecuting officer Inspector M. Alli Nangai.
