Ahmad Zahid Calls On Malaysians To Pray For Anwar’s Speedy Recovery

Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today called on all Malaysians to pray for the speedy recovery of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is currently resting after undergoing a minor surgical procedure.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid mentioned that Anwar had informed him about the medical procedure on Tuesday, August 4. He expressed confidence that the Prime Minister would require only a short period of rest before resuming his duties. Ahmad Zahid urged, "Let's pray together that his recovery will provide him with the comfort and strength to continue serving the country and the people as a whole."

Ahmad Zahid noted that despite the surgery being minor, Anwar would need at least two days of downtime. He shared these remarks with reporters following the launch of the 2026-2035 National Social Determinants of Health Strategic Plan for Orang Asli (NSPSDHOA) at Kampung Air Banun.

The head of the Prime Minister's Medical Team, Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah, stated that Anwar successfully underwent an elective laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat an abdominal hernia, specifically a para-umbilical hernia. Dr Asri noted that the procedure was conducted smoothly by a team of medical specialists, and Anwar is currently undergoing physiotherapy.

"He is currently undergoing physiotherapy and remains under the close supervision of the medical specialist team to ensure his recovery process progresses well," Dr Asri added.
