Ahmad Zahid Congratulates S’pore PM Wong On Election Victory

Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his congratulations to Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the resounding victory of his party, the People's Action Party (PAP), in the republic's 2025 General Election (GE2025) on Saturday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid stated that the victory was a strong mandate that clearly reflected the people's trust and confidence in Wong's leadership. He emphasized his belief that this victory signals the faith of the Singaporean populace in Wong's progressive policies and his vision for the future of the city-state.

Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence that under Wong's leadership, Malaysia-Singapore ties would continue to flourish and usher in a new chapter of mutually beneficial regional cooperation. He highlighted that Malaysia and Singapore are not only geographical neighbours but also strategic partners with special historical, cultural, and economic ties.

The Deputy Prime Minister hoped for Singapore's continued prosperity and flourishing under Wong's administration and expressed his desire for the close Malaysia-Singapore relations to continue growing for the sake of peace, prosperity, and shared well-being. The PAP retained its more than two-thirds majority in Singapore's GE2025 by winning 87 out of 97 parliamentary seats.
