Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his condolences to the families of five Al Jazeera media personnel killed in an Israeli military strike in Gaza City. In a Facebook post today, Ahmad Zahid said the attack claimed the lives of Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stated that the journalists died while carrying out the duty of conveying the truth and reporting the real situation on the ground to open the world's eyes to the suffering of the Palestinian people. He highlighted their courage and sacrifice as evidence that the struggle for justice will persist, even when life is at risk.
Ahmad Zahid expressed his deepest condolences to all the victims' families and strongly condemned the act, which he described as a clear violation of international humanitarian law. He reiterated Malaysia's stance, emphasizing the country's commitment to speaking out on the world stage, advocating for justice for the Palestinian people, and demanding an end to attacks on journalists and humanitarian workers.
The Gaza Media Office reported that two of its journalists were among the five media personnel killed on Sunday after their tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City was attacked by Israel. Ahmad Zahid concluded his statement by wishing for mercy upon the souls of the deceased and hoped they would be placed among the martyrs.
