Kuala lumpur: The Health Ministry (MOH) will continue expanding the use of AI in the national healthcare system to improve the accuracy of disease diagnosis, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. He noted that AI has already been applied in several initiatives, such as the Lung Health Initiatives, which uses diagnostic data, particularly X-rays.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly highlighted the challenges in making accurate diagnoses, especially for complex cases like sinister nodules where it is difficult to distinguish between conditions such as tuberculosis. He stated that AI will aid in achieving precision in these diagnoses. During his appearance on Bernama TV's Ruang Bicara programme titled 'Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Healthcare System', he expressed that AI is rapidly advancing in fields such as oncology, cardiology, surgery, general medicine, specialised surgery, and dentistry, among others, and is expected to continue growing.
Dr Dzulkefly emphasized that the MOH is committed to embracing more AI applications and research related to health, either through research or services. He assured that the ministry is dedicated to implementing these initiatives to enhance healthcare services.
Meanwhile, Dr Dzulkefly addressed workplace bullying within the MOH, stating that the ministry maintains a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of bullying to ensure a safe and harmonious working environment. He recalled that since the start of his administration, he has firmly communicated that bullying is unacceptable, with over 400 complaints received to date.
He expressed confidence that the bullying management guidelines act as a deterrent and exert pressure on potential workplace bullies within the MOH. He stressed that cultivating a fair and safe work environment begins with human values and a character rooted in compassion. He added that preventive measures should be supported not only by guidelines but also by humanity and empathy.
