Aidilfitri Food Supply Remains Stable Nationwide, Says Minister

Kota bharu: The supply of basic food items such as eggs, chicken, beef, fish, vegetables, and fruits across the nation is reported to be sufficient throughout the Aidilfitri celebration period. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, assured the public that there is no need for panic buying as the supply remains stable.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Minister stated, "Alhamdulillah, so far the supply of basic food items is sufficient and the people do not need to panic buy." He noted an increase in demand for coconut milk but emphasized that the ministry, through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), is actively working to increase the supply as needed. These comments were made following the opening ceremony of the ministry's Entrepreneurs Aidilfitri Light Carnival and Iftar Kasih Ceremony at the Rural Transformation Centre in Tunjong.

In discussing the programme, Mohamad highlighted that the event is targeting a sales value of RM750,000. He remarked, "This is not a small figure, this is a direct injection into the economy of agro-based industry entrepreneurs so that they continue to be progressive and sustainable." He further emphasized that the carnival serves to strengthen the collaboration between the government, agencies, and the entrepreneurial community, especially during the significant period of Ramadan.
