Sarawak: Sarawak's state-owned airline AirBorneo Airways today opened ticket sales for its Kuala Lumpur route, marking a key milestone in its efforts to enhance air connectivity between the state and Peninsular Malaysia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new service will operate twice daily between Kuching International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1. AirBorneo is offering its 'Sarawakku Sayang' fares to mark the launch. The fares start at RM375 all-in for a one-way Economy Class ticket and RM736 all-in for a one-way Business Class ticket, inclusive of airport taxes and fuel surcharges.
Bookings opened today, with travel set to commence on July 20. Tickets are available exclusively through the airline's official website and AirBorneo mobile application. The airline emphasized that sales through its official booking channels would provide customers with verified fares, transparent pricing, secure transactions, direct customer support, and real-time booking updates.
AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin commented on the significance of opening ticket sales for the Kuala Lumpur route, seeing it as an important step in the airline's growth journey. The route is expected to strengthen Sarawak's links with the rest of Malaysia and beyond. He noted that Kuala Lumpur serves as a strategic gateway, expanding access to wider domestic and international destinations, thereby creating greater opportunities for tourism, trade, investment, and business.
Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin also highlighted the introduction of the 'Sarawakku Sayang' fares as a reflection of the airline's commitment to making air travel more accessible. This move supports Sarawak's goals in connectivity, tourism, and sustainable economic growth. The inaugural commercial service on July 20 will operate on the Kuala Lumpur-Kuching route, with 100 seats available for public booking. Regular twice-daily services between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching will begin on July 21.
