AirBorneo Apologises For Recent Disruptions, Reaffirms Commitment To Reliable Service

Kuching: AirBorneo has apologised to guests affected by recent flight delays and cancellations across Sarawak and Sabah, acknowledging the disruption, inconvenience and uncertainty experienced by travellers and their families over the past few days.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sarawak-owned airline stated that the disruptions were due to several aircraft being unavailable concurrently because of scheduled maintenance requirements and technical rectification works. These were delayed owing to the delivery schedule of key replacement components. Despite safety being AirBorneo's highest priority, the airline fully recognises the impact these disruptions have had on the communities that rely on its services daily.

AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin expressed understanding of the frustration, inconvenience, and uncertainty caused. He mentioned that the airline's focus is on restoring reliable service while ensuring that every aircraft in their fleet continues to meet the highest standards of safety and airworthiness.

Megat Ardian Wira also stated that AirBorneo has implemented additional operational and maintenance measures to strengthen fleet resilience and support the progressive restoration of normal services. He acknowledged that recent events have been disappointing but emphasised that they do not change the airline's commitment to serving the people of Sarawak and Sabah. The airline is determined to restore confidence and earn back trust through daily actions.

As part of its longer-term plans, AirBorneo is advancing its fleet renewal and expansion programme, which includes the planned introduction of ATR 72-600 aircraft. This addition will strengthen operational resilience, provide greater flexibility across the network, and support the airline's commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and dependable air connectivity throughout Sarawak and Sabah.
