AKPS Foils Attempt To Smuggle 45 Animal Horns At LTAPP

Bayan lepas: The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) foiled an attempt to smuggle 45 units of wildlife goods suspected to be animal horns estimated to be worth RM5,000 at Penang International Airport (LTAPP) in Bayan Lepas on Thursday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, AKPS announced in a statement today that the goods were discovered following an inspection of the luggage of an Indonesian male passenger who arrived from Guangzhou, China, on a China Southern flight.

The statement revealed that the 57-year-old man was carrying suspected wildlife goods without a permit or valid document under Section 68(1)(b) of Act 716. Consequently, all 45 units of suspected animal horns were seized and handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for further investigation.
