Bukit kayu hitam: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle in undeclared food items at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex. The operation took place yesterday when a lorry was inspected as it traversed the import route at the complex around 10 pm.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bukit Kayu Hitam AKPS commander SAC Mohd Nasarudin Md Nasir reported that the seized consignment included various food items that were not declared to the customs authorities. The items comprised rice flour, fragrant rice, glutinous rice, chicken-flavoured seasoning powder, and shrimp tomyam-flavoured instant noodles. The seizure is valued at approximately RM10,400, based on current local market rates. No arrests were made during the operation.
Mohd Nasarudin stated that the confiscated goods have been secured at the Cargo Scanning Machine Unit (UMPK) store, pending further action in compliance with existing procedures and regulations.
He also mentioned that through the Foreign Vehicle Operation, which has been active since January 15, the agency has inspected 180 vehicles, resulting in five notices being issued for various technical and documentation violations. Additionally, 29 Thai motorcycle taxis were inspected, with all riders being instructed to return to Thailand without any arrests being made.
