AKPS Issues Entry Refusal Notices to Seven Foreigners at Bukit Kayu Hitam

Bukit kayu hitam: The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) yesterday issued Notices of Refusal of Entry (NPM) to seven foreigners attempting to enter the country through the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the individuals include five Indian men, a Thai man, and an Indonesian woman, all suspected of not being genuine tourists.

AKPS stated that the notices were issued in line with Section 8(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as the individuals failed to meet the entry requirements for visitors to Malaysia. They have been instructed to return to their countries of origin via the same entry route. The agency emphasized that the refusal of entry was conducted according to standard operating procedures (SOP) and departmental circulars currently in force. No seizures or criminal elements were identified in this case.

In a separate operation, AKPS seized 20,000 kilograms of dried longan for failing to comply with the Nutrition Act 1985 regarding product labeling. The seizure occurred during an operation that began at 8:30 pm, with the product being brought in through trade routes. The total value of the seized goods is estimated to exceed RM480,000, although no arrests have been made.

AKPS reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all food products entering the country comply with legal and safety standards. The agency also highlighted its ongoing collaboration with other enforcement agencies to ensure consumer safety and protect the sovereignty of the country's borders.
