AKPS Officers Urged to Uphold Discipline and Curb Sick Leave Misuse

Kuala lumpur: Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officers and staff are reminded to always instill a culture of high discipline and not to abuse sick leave facilities, said its director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain. He emphasized that disciplinary action would be taken against officers found to be misusing sick leave, and police reports would be lodged against private clinics that issued sick leave certificates (MC) illegally.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shuhaily noted instances where officers, after being reprimanded by superiors, submitted questionable sick leave to avoid work. He expressed determination to end this culture with strict disciplinary measures and legal action against clinics providing invalid leave certificates. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and ensuring smooth operations within the agency.

Mohd Shuhaily highlighted that the practice of taking unjustified sick leave, especially following a reprimand, undermines the organization's effectiveness. It creates a situation where supervisors hesitate to reprimand subordinates for fear of personnel shortages. He urged AKPS members to embrace discipline, adhere to the chain of command, and enhance the agency's integrity and professionalism in safeguarding the country's entry points.

Earlier, Mohd Shuhaily launched the Superintendent Service Scheme Border, Assistant Border Superintendent, and Assistant Border Superintendent, marking a significant milestone for AKPS. The new service scheme, effective July 1, aims to strengthen the agency's identity as the sole authority for border control and protection.
