AKPS Warns Against Fake LOA, Procurement Documents

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has expressed serious concern over the misuse of its director-general's name and the identities of its officers in fraudulent government procurement dealings.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, AKPS revealed it had been alerted through complaints from companies that received documents purportedly to be Letters of Acceptance (LOA) signed by its director-general, involving procurement for items including tactical protective jackets, generator sets, and stationery. The documents are believed to bear forged signatures of the director-general and agency officers, as well as fake letterheads, to convince companies that the offers were part of official AKPS procurement.

'A police report was lodged over the matter and has been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation and further action,' the statement read. AKPS stressed that all procurement by the agency is carried out in accordance with the prevailing government procurement procedures, processes, and regulations.

'Any party receiving an offer letter or LOA purportedly from the agency is advised to verify its authenticity before making any financial commitments,' it said, adding that the public is also urged to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to such scams.
