Alcaraz beats Zverev, wins 2024 French Open title

ANKARA: Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev 3-2 to win the 2024 French Open men’s singles title on Sunday.

The 21-year-old third-ranked Alcaraz won his first Roland Garros title against world no. 4 Zverev, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1 and 6-2 on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

The five-set thriller lasted four hours and 19 minutes.

Alcaraz made history by becoming the youngest ever to win a major trophy on hard courts (US Open 2022), grass courts (Wimbledon 2023), and clay courts (French Open 2024).

“Winning your first in every Grand Slam is always super special,” he said.
