Alor Gajah Police Record 417 Fraud Cases Involving Losses Of Over RM8.8 Mln

Alor gajah: A total of 417 investigation papers involving fraud cases were recorded in the Alor Gajah district, involving losses of over RM8.8 million from Jan 1 to Aug 31. Acting Alor Gajah district police chief DSP Azrul Mohamed said all the cases were received by the Alor Gajah district police headquarters (IPD) Commercial Crime Investigation Division (BSJK), with various modus operandi, including via phone calls and online.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the modus operandi includes the fraud syndicate deceiving victims into believing they are receiving 'parcels' from abroad, making phone calls impersonating authorities, and offering non-existent investments and loans. DSP Azrul Mohamed elaborated that the syndicate also deceives victims by offering non-existent part-time jobs and online purchases on the internet.

In this regard, he said the police advised the public to be more careful and not be easily deceived by any suspicious calls, messages or offers.
