Amirudin Denies Viral Poster On Special Holiday For Selangor’s Sukma Victory, Announcement Will Be Made At Closing Ceremony

Selangor: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has denied the authenticity of a viral poster announcing a special public holiday to mark the state's victory at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin stated in a post on Threads that any official announcement regarding the public holiday would be made during the SUKMA closing ceremony scheduled to take place tomorrow at Aneka Walk, Section 14. He emphasized that any circulating information prior to the official announcement is false and urged the public to remain patient.

Earlier, Mohd Najwan Halimi, the State Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman, mentioned that the state government would consider declaring a special public holiday if the Selangor contingent emerged as the overall champion at the Games. He indicated that the decision would be made after confirming the final medal tally, with Selangor currently positioned strongly to capture the overall title.
