Amirudin Shari To Defend PKR Vice-President Post

Kuala Lumpur: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has confirmed his intention to defend his vice-president's post in the upcoming PKR party election for 2025-2028. He emphasized that his decision aligns with the principle of strengthening the party as a dominant political entity, a catalyst for reformation, and a core component of the Unity Government. The election aims to establish a team capable of implementing reforms and supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's second term as Malaysia's Prime Minister.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin articulated his campaign theme of 'Reformasi Cita Bangsa', which resonates with deputy president candidate Nurul Izzah Anwar's theme of 'Bersama Membina Parti Kita'. He expressed a desire to enhance the party machinery and foster closer ties among party members to strengthen relations with Unity Government component parties, with the objective of winning the 16th general election.

Amirudin intends to present the Reformasi Cita Bangsa concept to all party members during the campaigning period and has called for their support. As of 10 am today, 11 leaders have announced their candidacy for the four PKR vice-president posts in the election scheduled for May 21. This includes the three current incumbents: Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
