Kuala lumpur: Amway Malaysia is reinforcing its dedication to promoting healthy ageing, wellness solutions grounded in science, and ethical entrepreneurship as it commemorates its 50th anniversary in Malaysia. The company remains committed to assisting Malaysians in enhancing their health and establishing long-term financial stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jason Leng, Managing Director of Amway Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, emphasized the company's impactful role over the past fifty years in empowering Malaysians to make informed health decisions while offering sustainable entrepreneurial opportunities. Leng expressed pride in the company's contributions towards bolstering Malaysians' health and financial resilience, and providing ethical business opportunities that enable the creation of sustainable businesses and legacies for future generations.
The AM50 Expo launch, officiated by Datuk Rohaizi Bahari, undersecretary of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Distributive Trade and Business Division, highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the government and industry in promoting community well-being and entrepreneurship. Leng noted Amway's evolution to meet changing consumer demands, transitioning from its initial home care products to include nutrition, beauty, personal care, and holistic wellness.
Leng advised young Malaysian entrepreneurs to prioritize building sustainable businesses over short-term gains, emphasizing that a long-term perspective has been crucial to Amway's growth strategy through persistent innovation and research. This is evident in their investment in research and development, such as the Nutrilite AmCELL, developed after six years of cellular health research.
He also introduced the Mission 50K initiative, aimed at encouraging 50,000 Malaysians to begin their wellness journey through healthier lifestyle choices. This initiative promotes small yet consistent lifestyle changes with lasting impacts on overall well-being.
During the forum "Empowering the Rakyat: Navigating Cost of Living Pressures Through Ethical Entrepreneurship," experts highlighted the importance of trust, authenticity, and ethical business practices in engaging younger generations. Dr. Emma Mohamad, Associate Professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), shared findings indicating that Generation Z values fairness, transparency, and reliability, and is more inclined to interact with trustworthy businesses and communities.
Dr. Mohamad also noted the need for businesses to responsibly embrace digital technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to maintain authenticity and trust with digitally literate younger consumers. Zaihan Ariffin, president of the Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM), remarked on the industry's need to adapt its communication of core values to align with younger consumers' expectations.
The AM50 celebration included the AM50 Expo, which showcased Amway's five-decade journey through interactive product displays, personalized wellness experiences, and community engagement activities promoting healthier living and responsible entrepreneurship.
According to the DSAM Board Report 2025/26, Malaysia ranks fifth globally in the direct selling industry, underscoring the sector's ongoing growth and contribution to entrepreneurial opportunities. Looking forward, Leng stated that Amway will continue its investment in Malaysia through new facilities, digital platforms, training programs, and health initiatives to empower Malaysians in making informed health choices, adopting healthier lifestyles, and enhancing financial resilience.
