ANGKASA To Propose RM257 Million Budget At MAPA 2026

Kuala lumpur: The National Cooperative Movement of Malaysia (ANGKASA) is set to propose a RM257 million budget at its 40th annual general meeting, known as MAPA 2026. This budget will encompass several strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the cooperative ecosystem in Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, ANGKASA's president, Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah, announced that the proposal would be presented to delegates for consideration and approval during the meeting scheduled for June 27. Key elements of the budget include equity ownership in the digital banking ecosystem, the implementation of a digital takaful project, and the development of the CoopCity project.

Abdul Fattah emphasized that these initiatives are intended to serve as foundational steps for ANGKASA to address demands and opportunities at domestic, Asian, and international levels. The three components are anticipated to bolster ANGKASA's position in the digital economy while creating new avenues for the cooperative movement to enhance its competitiveness.

He further highlighted that MAPA 2026 is a pivotal platform for acquiring a mandate from delegates to shape ANGKASA's strategic direction for 2027. The meeting will also cover discussions on governance, management, and the Business Plan for ANGKASA's 2027 financial year.

In addition, Abdul Fattah revealed that ANGKASA has submitted a resolution to the government, advocating for an increase in development allocation for the cooperative sector to RM500 million under Budget 2027. This increase is deemed vital for bolstering the cooperative sector's contribution to Malaysia's socio-economic development, benefiting approximately 7.3 million members.

MAPA 2026 will be conducted in a hybrid format via the Zoom Meeting application, with the broadcast originating from the ANGKASA Auditorium, Wisma Ungku A. Aziz, Kelana Jaya. The meeting is expected to gather 5,753 cooperative delegates from various economic sectors to evaluate achievements, discuss current challenges, and establish priorities for the national cooperative movement.
