Another Arrest Made in Death of Student in Kuala Pilah

Kuala Pilah:Police have detained a second suspect, a 16-year-old male student, in connection with the investigation into the death of a Form Two student in Kuala Pilah last Friday. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to two.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that the detained suspect, who attends the same school as the victim, was remanded for six days by the Kuala Pilah Magistrate's Court to assist in the ongoing investigation. The police are thoroughly investigating the case, exploring the possibility of bullying as a factor in the student's death.

The post-mortem results have yet to conclusively determine the cause of death, and samples have been sent to the Chemistry Department for further analysis. As part of the investigation, police have recorded 68 witness statements, with more witnesses expected to be interviewed.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred after the Maghrib prayers when students were supposed to be in a study session. The suspect allegedly called the victim to his room, where he was beaten on the soles of his feet and other body parts with a rubber hose.

When the victim's condition worsened, the dormitory warden was alerted, and the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It remains unclear whether the victim died at the dormitory or en route to the hospital. Additionally, several students have reported previous bullying incidents involving the first suspect who was detained.

Earlier reports indicated that a Form Four student was initially remanded to aid in the investigation of the death of the 14-year-old student. The case remains under active investigation by the police.
