Anwar Extends Warm Wishes to Manchester United and ASEAN All-Stars for Friendly Match

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has conveyed his well wishes to the Manchester United and ASEAN All-Stars teams ahead of their friendly match at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. He used the phrase 'selamat berentap,' a Bahasa Melayu expression, to wish both teams a spirited contest.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister shared his sentiments in a Facebook post, where he also humorously mentioned his indecision on which team to support. Anwar, known to be a fan of the English Premier League club, wrote, "I wish both teams who will be playing at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium a spirited contest. I am still thinking about who to support tomorrow night."

The post also noted that the Prime Minister had a meeting with Manchester United's chief executive officer Omar Berrada and team manager Ruben Amorim. The meeting was attended by players and officials from the ASEAN All-Stars, with Head Coach Kim Sang Sik leading the delegation.

Manchester United's last appearance in Malaysia was during their 2009 pre-season tour, where they secured victories against Malaysia XI with scores of 3-2 and 2-0 on July 18 and 20, respectively, at the same venue.
