Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today attended a special preview of the Bollywood film "Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story," where he met the film's director and producer, Akbar Khan, who is a long-time friend. Anwar spent about 30 minutes watching the preview of the film, which narrates the love story of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, leading to the construction of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the large-scale production by Akbar Khan features original filming locations in India and cinematography that showcases Mughal architecture. The cast includes Bollywood stars such as Kabir Bedi, Zulfikar Sayed, Manisha Koirala, Arbaaz Khan, and Sonya Jehan.
The film delves into themes of sacrifice, true love, and cultural heritage, acting as a tribute to the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO-recognised wonder of the world. Released in 2005, "Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story" was once considered one of the most expensive Bollywood productions of its time, marketed as a project that highlights India's history and architecture to the world.
The screening was also attended by Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia B.N. Reddy, Polish Ambassador to Malaysia Krzysztof Dobrowolski, and Deputy Head of Mission of Egypt Fatma AlZahraa Hassan Abdelkawy.
