Penang: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today commenced a two-day working visit to Penang, with a schedule featuring multiple engagements with different community sectors, including students, the Muslim community, and local residents.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister's visit began with Friday prayers at Masjid Sembilang, Butterworth, at 1.30 pm. This was followed by a 'Temu Anwar Bersama Pelajar' session as part of the Ambang Merdeka Sahabat MADANI Programme at the Tuanku Bainun Teacher Education Institute campus in Bukit Mertajam at 4 pm. The session, also attended by Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek, offered students a chance to engage directly with Anwar.

The day's agenda will conclude with Anwar attending a Maulid Akbar event in conjunction with Independence Day at Masjid Jamek Tengah Berapit, Bukit Mertajam, at 9 pm. Tomorrow, the Prime Minister is set to officiate the Permatang Pauh Skim Usahawan Bangkit programme at Dewan Yayasan Aman Penanti, Kubang Semang, at 10 am.

Later, Anwar will participate in the National-Level Tadabbur Perdana Programme and the Permatang Pauh Maidah Wanita MADANI Programme at Masjid Muhajirin, Seberang Jaya, at 11.30 am. In the afternoon, as Finance Minister, he will officially open the 15th Malaysian Scout Jamboree at the Penang State Stadium in Batu Kawan, an event drawing over 5,450 scouts from 11 countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. This jamboree is significant as it returns to Penang after a 60-year hiatus since first being hosted in Teluk Bahang in 1966.

Anwar's visit will conclude with his attendance at the 2026 Ambang Merdeka Sahabat MADANI Programme finale at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Permatang Pauh at 4 pm.
