Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his prayers for the recovery of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is currently unwell due to contracting Influenza A.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar Ibrahim also expressed his hopes for the Sultan to always be under the protection and blessings of Allah SWT. In a Facebook post, he stated, "May Allah SWT grant His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Sultan and Ruler of Selangor Darul Ehsan, a speedy recovery and good health."

Earlier, a statement from Istana Alam Shah revealed that the infection was identified by the Sultan’s two personal physicians, Datuk Dr Anuar Onah and Datuk Dr Tan Hui Meng. The Sultan had been experiencing high fever and weakness in his limbs since the previous morning. As a result, Sultan Sharafuddin has been advised to rest and refrain from attending any functions for five to seven days to ensure a full recovery.
