Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered relevant government agencies to urgently locate and contact Malaysians affected by floods in Nepal. He stated that this directive involves the National Security Council (MKN) and the Foreign Ministry, while Malaysian embassies in New Delhi, India, and Kathmandu, Nepal, have also been mobilised to expedite assistance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar has instructed all departments, including the MKN and Foreign Ministry, to immediately identify those affected and establish contact with ministries and embassies in India and Kathmandu. This swift move aims to speed up efforts to assist Malaysians impacted by the natural disaster.

Earlier, Anwar expressed his concern and sadness over the flash floods that struck Nepal's Rasuwa district. He mentioned that the government was working to locate 54 Malaysians who remained unreachable. Media reports indicated that the flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border resulted from heavy rain and a glacial collapse along the Bhote Koshi River.

The disaster has disrupted communications and cut off key roads linking the affected area with the capital, Kathmandu. This situation has significantly hampered rescue efforts and access to those in need of assistance.
