Anwar Receives Courtesy Visit From UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy visit from the United Kingdom (UK) Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, in the spirit of strengthening bilateral relations, which have now been elevated to a 'strategic partnership' following his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer last January.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared on platform X that Malaysia is keen on fostering closer cooperation with the UK in several areas, including investment, energy transition, education, climate change, defence, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The Prime Minister emphasized Malaysia's interest in attracting more investment from the UK, particularly in the semiconductor and green infrastructure sectors, as outlined in the Global Industrial Agenda. Anwar also acknowledged the UK's active role as a dialogue partner of ASEAN, highlighting its support for humanitarian efforts in Myanmar and its call for a ceasefire and the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC).

Additionally, Anwar remarked that the relationship between Malaysia and the UK is evolving into a more mature and strategic partnership, built on shared values such as justice, the rule of law, and universal humanity.
