Anwar Visits SM Sains Alam Shah Fire Site, Discusses Reconstruction Plans

Cheras: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited the site of the administrative building of Sekolah Menengah (SM) Sains Alam Shah, which was destroyed in an early morning blaze on Tuesday. Anwar arrived at around 2.25 pm and was briefed for about 20 minutes by the Fire and Rescue Department regarding the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is the Bandar Tun Razak member of parliament. Also present were the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also assessed the proposed site for the construction of a temporary teachers' room and interacted with the students and educators of the school. The visit aimed to provide support and discuss the steps for rebuilding the affected facilities.

On Tuesday, the Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre stated that they received an emergency call about the fire at 4.15 am. The third floor of the building, which includes the teachers' room, meeting room, file room, laboratory, and several other rooms, was affected by the fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain under investigation.
