Arafah Sermon Calls For Unity, Rejection Of Extremism And Division

Arafah: The haj pilgrimage is a powerful platform for unity and a symbol of universal solidarity that can restore the strength of the Muslim ummah if it is embraced with sincerity and deep understanding. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar emphasized the importance of haj in fostering unity among Muslims worldwide as they face increasing division due to narrow-minded ideologies and a fading sense of brotherhood.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na'im stressed that the haj pilgrimage should be seen as a commanding symbol of unity for Muslims globally. He noted the gathering of millions from different races, cultures, and languages in one place, facing one qiblah, and calling out one name, Allah SWT, as a testament to the potential for unity and brotherhood. He highlighted that haj abolishes discrimination and upholds justice by valuing piety and righteous deeds over appearance and wealth.

The sermon, titled 'The Call of Tawhid and Unity of the Ummah,' was delivered in conjunction with Wukuf Day on the plains of Arafah. Mohd Na'im urged Muslims to embrace the noble values emphasized during haj, ensuring that the pilgrimage leaves a significant impact on personal character and development.

Mohd Na'im also reminded pilgrims to prioritize safety and avoid negligence that could jeopardize their pilgrimage. He encouraged them to fulfill the rights of fellow human beings through tolerance and mutual assistance, avoiding disputes that may undermine the spiritual essence of haj. Additionally, he stressed the importance of seeking forgiveness and allowing haj to be a turning point towards spiritual purity and renewed devotion to Allah SWT.

Earlier, Mohd Na'im visited accommodation tents and interacted with Muassasah pilgrims. Malaysia received a haj quota of 31,600 pilgrims from the Government of Saudi Arabia for this haj season.
