Arcilla Marches to PCA Open 3rd Round

Manila: Johnny Arcilla continued his winning run in the 42nd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open Tennis Championships men's singles event, beating Miguel Iglupas, 6-3, 6-0, Tuesday at the PCA indoor shell court in Paco, Manila. Arcilla, eyeing a record 11th title, advanced to the third round where he will face Ronard Joven, a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Lucien Jay Caiman.

According to Philippines News Agency, top seed and defending champion Albert Lim Jr. and second seed Jed Olivarez also booked tickets in the next round. Olivarez clobbered qualifier Sebastian Santos, 6-2, 6-0, to set up a duel with Josshua Kinaadman, who prevailed over Noel Damian, 6-2, 6-1. Lim, on the other hand, demolished Mark Anthony Alcoseba, 6-0, 6-0, to advance against Eric Jay Tangub, who conquered Al Tristan Licayan, 6-1, 6-2.

Thailand's Tanakorn Srirat defeated Jerimiah Latorre, 6-2, 6-3, to join fellow wild card Iggy Pantino in the third round. Qualifier James Aquino survived John Kendrick Bona, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, to advance along with Elbert Anasta, Fritz Verdad, Alexis Acabo, Nilo Ledama, Lance Jacob Fernandez, Marco Macalintal, and John Benedict Aguilar.
