Makati city: The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has set a goal to publish the results of tracer studies in the telecommunications and energy sectors by the first quarter of 2026. This initiative aims to streamline processes and enhance the appeal of these sectors to foreign investors.
According to Philippines News Agency, the studies will be conducted in collaboration with the British Embassy Manila. As part of this effort, ARTA is also focusing on streamlining processes in the semiconductor industry, as confirmed by Secretary Ernesto Perez.
The collaboration with the British government is a result of a memorandum of agreement that provides the Philippines with technical assistance to improve regulatory quality. This partnership is anticipated to expedite processes in crucial sectors.
In a recent interview at the MOU announcement in Makati City, Perez emphasized the timely nature of the British government's assistance. He highlighted the potential of the semiconductor industry, noting the Philippines' rich mineral resources like nickel and copper, which are essential for semiconductors.
Perez expressed optimism that these initiatives would attract more investors, revealing that there has been significant interest from foreign investors in the targeted sectors.
The MOU is expected to facilitate the establishment of a one-stop shop for each sector, based on streamlined processes and smarter regulations. Perez emphasized that regulatory agencies should focus on facilitating rather than merely regulating, which is crucial for attracting foreign direct investments to propel economic growth.
