ASEAN Summit A Resounding Success, Draws Global Media Attention – Fahmi

Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has described the hosting of the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur as a tremendous success. Fahmi, who is also the MADANI government spokesman, stated that the summit, which began on Monday, received widespread coverage from both local and foreign media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed his satisfaction with the successful execution of the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. He noted that feedback from both the public and international media pointed to a successful hosting of these summits. Fahmi made these remarks after bidding farewell to Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, and his delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Fahmi emphasized that the successful hosting of the summits underscored Southeast Asia's strategic role in investment and global issues. He highlighted that despite differing views among member countries, the ASEAN framework ensures regional stability, making Southeast Asia an attractive destination for investors and tourists. He further noted that the success of the summits demonstrated ASEAN's potential to connect continents, allowing for progress and shared prosperity.

The 46th ASEAN Summit, which concluded yesterday, gathered Southeast Asian leaders to discuss regional cooperation, economic integration, and geopolitical stability. As the Chair of ASEAN 2025, Malaysia hosted both the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit to enhance inter-regional collaboration. The 47th ASEAN Summit is set to take place again in Kuala Lumpur in October, under Malaysia's continued chairmanship.
