Krabi: The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council's (MAIPs) Akademi Transformasi Asnaf (ATAM) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with three industry players to collaborate on empowering the asnaf community in Perlis.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ATAM board member and MAIPs chief executive officer, Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor, announced that the collaboration involves Sriphong Farm, Ban Na Teen Social Enterprise, and Boossabakorn Spa and Wellness. Sriphong Farm specializes in goat farming, while Ban Na Teen is engaged in community-based tourism, including batik and handicrafts.
Mohd Nazim elaborated that the agreement in the Krabi region encompasses cooperation in skills sharing, training, and tourism. This initiative was highlighted during the MAIPs Ziarah Mahabbah programme to the Andaman region 2026.
The visit, which occurred from January 23 to 25, marked its 11th edition this year and focused on sustaining ATAM's collaboration with entrepreneurs in Krabi. The delegation was led by the Raja Muda of Perlis, who is also the president of MAIPs, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. The Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, also attended the event.
Participants included members of the ATAM board of directors and Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs) director Maizura Shamsuddin. The Andaman region includes Krabi, Ranong, Phuket, Phang Nga, Trang, and Satun.
The strategic collaboration between MAIPs and the Islamic Religious Councils (MAIs) of the six Andaman regions was formalized through a workshop during the 'Multaqa Ummatan Wahidah' (One Ummah Gathering) on March 14, 2015, led by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra and the six MAIs of the Andaman region.
