BACHOK HOSPITAL TO BENEFIT OVER 160,000 RESIDENTS STARTING 2024

The Bachok Hospital, a federal government project that is expected to be fully operational in early 2024, is expected to benefit over 160,000 residents in the district.

Kelantan Health director Datuk Dr Zaini Husin said the ongoing construction of the hospital on a 20.3-hectare site is now 97.2 per cent completed.

“Based on the information we’ve collected, the entire building construction will be completed this October as scheduled.

“The hospital is expected to begin operations by January 2024 upon completion of the finishing process, which includes furniture and patient bed installations,” he told Bernama after a visit to the Bachok Hospital construction site in Jelawat today.

Also present was Kelantan State Development Office Director Jasri Kasim.

Elaborating, Zaini said the new hospital would also benefit local residents from other surrounding districts and help reduce overcrowding at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) in Kota Bharu and Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian.

The three-storey hospital will have 76 patient beds with various treatment services, including paediatrics and oncology.

“The Bachok Hospital is built in a quiet area with over 200 parking spaces, making it convenient for local residents. Now, all 10 districts in this state have their own respective hospitals.

“The hospital is also proof of the government’s concern and commitment to improving health facilities for the people, fulfilling the aspirations of Bachok district residents for a nearby medical facility,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jasri said Kelantan’s healthcare sector received an allocation of RM30.94 million this year to implement 44 projects including the construction of two hospitals namely in Tanah Merah and Bachok.

An additional RM700,000 has also been allocated for the maintenance of quarters in five hospitals in the state.

It is hoped that Bachok Hospital will serve as a catalyst for generating the local economy in various other business sectors, Jasri added.
