Papar: A 91.44-metre Bailey bridge across Sungai Kaiduan in Papar, Sabah, has been completed, restoring road access to five villages and benefiting nearly 1,000 residents. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the bridge's completion, noting its capacity to support loads of up to 20 tonnes. This structure replaces the original bridge that collapsed due to flooding on September 13 of the previous year, causing significant transport disruptions for local residents.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister, emphasized the urgency of the Bailey bridge installation. He personally visited the site on September 18 following the collapse, directing immediate action to restore access. In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid expressed that swift restoration work is crucial when access is disrupted by disasters, as it impacts the daily lives and movements of local communities.

He further stated that similar restoration efforts would continue to be prioritized to ensure damaged facilities are promptly repaired, allowing residents to return to their normal routines.
