Bajausama Cultural Festival Aims 10,000 Visitors

Tuaran: The Festival Kebudayaan Rumpun Bajausama Sabah 2025 is set to draw an estimated 10,000 visitors from August 7 to 10 in Tuaran. The event is designed to serve as a platform for heritage empowerment and to bolster unity among various races and ethnicities within the state, as stated by Datuk Japlin Akim, vice-president of the Association of Rumpun Bajausama Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the festival will showcase the distinctive culture, customs, and traditions of the Bajausama community. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote local culture on an international scale. The Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Haji Aman, will officially open the festival at the Rumpun Bajausama Cultural Centre, Kampung Lok Batik, Tuaran, with the presence of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who also presides over the association.

The festival is backed by several government agencies to ensure inclusive participation from the community, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, or political stance. The event will feature a range of programmes and activities, such as exhibitions and sales of handicraft products, the Ratu Serimpak competition, the Betitik competition, and a digital food photography competition.

Japlin also mentioned that the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), through the National Heritage Department and in collaboration with the state government, will organise the Cita Rasa Warisan@Sabah Festival as part of the event. One of the main attractions will be traditional cooking demonstrations by renowned national chefs.
