Bank Rakyat Contributes Over RM1.7 Million Zakat To Sabah Islamic Religious Council

Kota kinabalu: Bank Rakyat today presented over RM1.7 million in zakat contribution to the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) during a courtesy visit to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, at Istana Seri Kinabalu.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the delegation was led by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) Datuk Ewon Benedick, alongside Bank Rakyat's chief executive officer, Ahmad Shahril Mohd Shariff, senior officers, and MUIS representatives.

Ewon noted that the contribution had increased from RM1.3 million last year, expressing confidence that it would continue to grow in the coming years in line with Bank Rakyat's plans in Sabah. He encouraged the people of Sabah to make use of Bank Rakyat's services, highlighting that part of its profits are reinvested into the community through zakat and other assistance.

Additionally, Ewon thanked Tun Musa for his support of KUSKOP and its agencies in promoting entrepreneurship and cooperatives in Sabah. He emphasized that Bank Rakyat, as a financing agency under the ministry, plays a crucial role in driving economic growth through entrepreneurship and cooperatives across the country.
