Beijing Launches 28th Academic Exchange Month Focused on Science and Innovation

Beijing: The 28th Beijing Academic Exchange Month of Science and Technology commenced last month, offering more than 140 academic events in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), medicine and health, urban development, and green energy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the month-long programme is organised under the guidance of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST) and is designed to promote academic empowerment and innovation leadership while fostering collaboration among universities, research institutions, and international scientific bodies.

One of the key highlights of the opening was the fifth International Conference on Data-Driven Computing and Machine Learning in Engineering (DACOMA-25), which took place from October 10 to 12. The conference was guided by BAST and jointly hosted by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, the Beijing Society of Mechanics, and Tsinghua University, with support from over 10 domestic and international institutions, including Peking University and Tongji University.

Launched in 2019, DACOMA has established itself as a prominent platform for promoting data-driven intelligent computing and interdisciplinary innovation. This year's conference, themed 'Data-Driven and AI-Powered Engineering Innovation', featured 67 presentations, comprising eight plenary sessions and 59 invited talks.

More than 250 participants from leading universities and research organisations participated, showcasing the latest advancements at the junction of data, modelling, and engineering applications.

Looking ahead, BAST plans to continue its support for academic societies, strengthen partnerships with domestic and international stakeholders, and assist Beijing-based universities in consolidating resources for scientific and technological innovation.
