Bernama Engages Public At Perak PMR 2026, Promotes Organisation’s Functions

Perak: The public is invited to visit the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) booth at the Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2026, currently taking place at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru Raya here, to gain a closer and first-hand understanding of the agency's services. Bernama Corporate Affairs assistant manager M. Suherman Anuar said the agency's third participation in PMR aimed to enhance public awareness of its services.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Suherman emphasized the importance of participating in PMR events, stating, "Each time PMR is organised, we make it a point to participate, and this platform essentially helps us to let people know of our functions and roles." He highlighted the agency's main objective of engaging directly with visitors and introducing Bernama platforms such as television, radio, news wires, and editorial services.

Suherman noted that feedback on Bernama had been positive, especially from ministry representatives familiar with the agency. However, he acknowledged that many in the local community remain unaware of Bernama's role. "Our physical presence helps them better understand the functions and role of the national news agency," he added.

At the booth, visitors can participate in question-and-answer sessions, digital quizzes, Kahoot games, and download the Bernama application to receive mystery gifts. A visitor, Nur Aisyah Mohd Faiz, 17, expressed excitement about the interactive activities, noting that they provided a clearer understanding of Bernama's functions and roles. She said, "I had heard the name before, but I did not really understand Bernama's role clearly. Programmes like this allow me to learn more about it."

Another visitor, Muhammad Izzat Hakimi, 21, praised Bernama's interactive approach, suggesting it should continue to ensure more young people understand the media's role. He commented, "This method also provides Bernama with the opportunity to increase public awareness of its presence and services, while engaging more effectively with the younger generation."
