KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) — Bernama Radio is optimistic about becoming a voice of inspiration for the entire community in this country in line with its new slogan, ‘Untuk Anda’ (For You).
Bernama chairman Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi said it was important for the radio station to become a voice of encouragement and inspiration during this difficult and challenging time.
“Bernama Radio does not only focus on current affairs and business news, but also ensuring that no one is left behind. So in my opinion, we must continue to be there for one another.
“We will continue to be with the community…we need to have stories about them (the community) and we must go to the ground and listen to their stories,” she told Bernama at Bernama Radio’s 15th anniversary celebration and the launching of the new slogan here today.
Ras Adiba said she hoped Bernama Radio would also focus on arts and culture-based programmes, such as poetry, ‘syair’ (narrative poems), ‘gurindam’ and others.
Meanwhile, Bernama Radio chief operating officer Azlan Idris said the ‘Untuk Anda’ slogan would open a new arena for the radio station to foster new approaches and ideas.
“If we want to place ourselves among the groups of broadcasters that are listened to and followed, we have to serve all groups because the content is not limited to a certain group.
“So with the new slogan, we hope it will attract listeners and sponsors,” he said.
When it was established in 2007, Bernama Radio was initially known as Radio24, featuring the concept of a 24-hour radio news station with FM93.9 as the first frequency for listeners in the Klang Valley.
The new idea brought a considerable change to the local radio broadcasting industry which directly gave the community the option of obtaining uninterrupted access to news in addition to content that always covers current developments.
During its 15 years of establishment, Bernama Radio has also received recognition for the hard work of its staff in several prestigious awards.
Among them is the gold medal winner of the Best Radio Report category of the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) – Petronas Journalism Awards at ‘Malam Wartawan Malaysia’ (MWM) 2021, in addition to taking home trophies in several categories at the 2010 and 2016 editions of Seri Angkasa Awards.
