Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) will continue to strengthen its role in delivering information to ignite the spirit of patriotism among the people in the lead-up to the National Day celebrations. Its chief executive officer, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, emphasized that Bernama, as a national news agency under the Ministry of Communications, is also tasked with supporting and disseminating the ministry's programmes and initiatives to the public.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nur-ul Afida stated, "For me, Bernama, as an agency under the Communications Ministry, is responsible for disseminating, promoting, and ensuring that any programme under this ministry is implemented by Bernama to the best of its ability," she said after attending the Bernama Appreciation Ceremony at Wisma Bernama here today. She highlighted that efforts to instil a spirit of patriotism among the workforce will continue through several initiatives in conjunction with National Month, including encouraging them to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their premises and homes.
"Immediately after the launch of the National Month by the Honourable Prime Minister in Ipoh recently, we continue to decorate our premises with the Jalur Gemilang as a sign of support for the campaign. At the same time, we encourage our employees to also display the Jalur Gemilang at their homes, in line with the theme 'Satu Rumah, Satu Jalur Gemilang'," she said.
Meanwhile, the event also witnessed the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang by Nur-ul Afida to representatives of Bernama's main departments as a symbolic gesture to ignite the National Month celebrations, in addition to introducing the National Day theme song composed by singer Faizal Tahir. She further stated that the implementation of the initiative also provides an opportunity for Bernama employees to together appreciate and enliven the spirit of the National Month celebrations.
"It is indeed not easy for us to gather all the staff at the headquarters, so we combined all the programmes and concluded with the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign," she added.
