Bernama Triumphs with 11 Awards at MPI-Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2025

Kuala lumpur: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) achieved an outstanding feat after winning 11 awards, comprising three Gold, two Silver, and six Bronze awards, at the Malaysia Press Institute (MPI)-Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2025 held in conjunction with Malaysian Press Night 2026 tonight.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bernama Radio dominated the agency's achievement by winning seven awards, including all three Gold awards secured by Bernama at the ceremony. Bernama Radio broadcast journalist Nurliyana Farhah Ruslan emerged as the Gold winner in the Best Radio Report category for her work titled 'Gelombang Flotila: Memecah Tembok Kebisuan,' earning her RM10,000 in cash, along with a trophy and certificate.

In the Best Radio Talk Show category, Siti Hashmarr Mohd Hashim, Nurul Shuhadah Armawan, and Muhammad Arif Che Soh won Gold for their work titled 'Global Sumud Flotilla: Dipenjara di Lautan, Dibebaskan Doa Dunia.' Another Bernama Radio journalist, Ahmad Irfan Che Mohd Ruzaidi, won Gold in the Best Radio News Live Broadcast category for his report titled 'Istiadat Pengebumian Negara Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.' All the winners took home RM10,000 in cash, along with a trophy and certificate.

Meanwhile, Nurliyana Farhah also secured Bronze in the Best Radio News Live Broadcast category for 'Lintas Langsung Liputan Haji dari Bumi Arafah.' Ahmad Irfan also won Bronze in the Best Radio Documentary category for 'Selamat Datang Timor-Leste: ASEAN Melangkah ke Era Baharu.' Ahmad Yurry Ahmad Satiman received Bronze in the Best Radio Report category for 'Hutang Warisan: Beban Tanpa Pilihan.'

In the Best Radio Talk Show category, Bernama Radio's Wan Shairil Azmir Wan Sharifuddin, Raifanabillah Zulkifli, and Kamal Azudin Md Yusoff won Bronze for 'Memodenkan Nelayan Kekang Pencerobohan?'. In the Best Photo Essay category, Bernama photographer Mohd Zulfadhli Zulkarn'ain won Silver for his work 'Gajah dan Manusia: Konflik yang Belum Selesai,' while Ahmad Iskandar Kamaruzaman received Bronze for 'Kisah Jerung Tanjung Luar.'

Bernama TV contributed two awards, with Siti Zanariah Nor Zin and Mohammad Hafiz Ahmad Kamal winning Silver in the Best Video News Live Broadcast category for 'Lintas Langsung Kemalangan Maut 15 Pelajar UPSI, Perkembangan Terkini di Forensik HRPB.' Mohd Noor Iqram Rosli secured Bronze in the Best Video News category for his series of reports, including 'Laluan 120KM Uji Ketahanan Fizikal, Mental Pengguna Jalan Raya,' 'Pakar Syor Kaji Semula Reka Bentuk, Guna Teknologi Pintar,' and 'Kerajaan Rangka Pelan Secara Komprehensif Tingkatkan Keselamatan.'

Meanwhile, Nurliyana Farhah described the achievement as unexpected, especially after winning Gold in the Best Radio Report category for three consecutive years. She attributed the success to the guidance of former Bernama Radio chief, the late Azlan Idris, who mentored the team and entrusted them to produce high-quality work. 'We hope such efforts will continue to add value to radio and strengthen public confidence in the Bernama Radio brand,' she said.
