Kota kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to empowering women through the establishment of a Sabah Women, Family and Community Development Ministry if it is given the mandate in the 17th state election. Sabah UMNO Information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, who is also the candidate for the Sungai Sibuga state seat, stated that the creation of a state-level women's ministry would be a significant development in raising the living standards of women.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Suhaimi expressed that the establishment of this ministry represents more than just an election promise; it is a strategic move aimed at transforming the social and economic landscape of the state. He emphasized the initiative as a "real revolution" for Sabah women, highlighting its potential to bring about social transformation and contribute to building a more inclusive, progressive, and competitive Sabah society.
Suhaimi further explained that the proposed ministry would be pivotal in driving comprehensive social development policies, with a focus on the well-being of women, children, and families. The ministry is envisioned as a catalyst for change, addressing various social issues and promoting gender equality within the state.
Additionally, Suhaimi outlined BN's plans to introduce a RM600 i-Suri incentive for housewives, widows, and single mothers, alongside training and skills development programs. These initiatives aim to equip women with entrepreneurial, technological, and modern job skills, thereby enhancing their economic opportunities and independence.
As Sabah approaches the state election, Suhaimi's proposal for the women's ministry stands as a central element of BN's campaign, promising significant advancements in social policy and women's empowerment. Polling day has been fixed for Saturday, November 29.
