Kuala Kurau:The body of the last angler reported missing at One Fathom Bank near Pulau Ketam on September 14 was discovered in waters off Kuala Kurau, Perak.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the body of Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamud, 49, was located floating by local fishermen approximately 4.5 nautical miles southwest of the Kuala Kurau estuary at 5:25 pm. The fishermen alerted the Kuala Kurau Maritime Zone after spotting the body dressed in a blue shirt and camouflage trousers.
The MMEA vessel Benteng 03 was dispatched to retrieve the body, which was then taken to the Kuala Kurau Marine Police Jetty at 7:30 pm. It was subsequently handed over to the police and transported to the Taiping Hospital Forensic Medicine Department for formal identification. Raja Mohd Rozi was identified by his wife based on his clothing.
Maritime Captain Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said the discovery of the final victim concludes the search for all seven anglers involved in the incident. He expressed gratitude to rescue teams from various agencies and the local fishing community for their assistance during the search and rescue operation.
The Selangor MMEA launched the operation on September 14 after receiving a report at 3:35 am about the disappearance of the anglers at One Fathom Bank. The six-day operation spanned an area of 3,887 square nautical miles across the waters of Selangor and Perak, including Hutan Melintang and Bagan Datuk. The operation was called off on September 19 after no new leads were found.
Of the seven anglers involved, four survived the incident. Two others, Muhammad Ridzuan Ruhaizat, 37, and Mohamad Shahril Abd Rahman, 43, were found deceased in waters off Hutan Melintang.
