Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (BSMM) has stepped up disaster preparedness ahead of the northeast monsoon through strengthened coordination with government agencies, corporate partners and volunteers. BSMM national chairperson Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah said collaboration is crucial, as no single organisation can manage disaster response alone.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, speaking at a donation handover by Nestl© Malaysia here today, she stressed that joint efforts ensure timely aid reaches those in greatest need. Nestl© Malaysia contributed 5,500 boxes of food aid to flood-prone states including Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.
BSMM has also mobilised logistics assets, volunteers, and emergency supplies, including hygiene kits, blankets, and equipment, as part of its readiness plan ahead of the monsoon season, which is expected to begin in early November. Its secretary-general Datuk Danial Iskandar Abdul Rahman said the organisation is working closely with NADMA and other partners to ensure swift and effective response.
